One of the most entertaining novels to come out in years, Mystic Mania gracefully shifts from comedy to life-and-death drama to the paranormal and back again. Fleischer has produced a real coming of (middle) age novel as she takes us down the emotional landscape of familial disapproval and romantic misadventure in a way that is really funny while being deeply poignant. Each page is a new revelation by a promising new writer who is forging a 21st century voice for the spiritually aware and adventuresome among us.

Mystic Mania is a beautiful exploration of the mind. It is at turns a laugh and a half and at others, quite moving. A fresh look at how the mystical, metaphysical and mental health can be entwined. It is a can’t put it down, page turning read. Can not wait to see what this author comes up with next.

Few memoirs are as original as “Mystic Mania”. The novel is, well, novel, due to both the author’s highly unusual circumstances — the most important but certainly not the only one being her paranormal experiences — as well as her original style. In fact, it’s her way of telling a story — fast-paced and humorous — that makes the many troubling situations in her life interesting and even a fun read. Who’d expect that reading the account of someone’s unexplained hallucinations, financial troubles, family quirks and romantic woes would actually be a laugh-out-loud read sprinkled with bizarre anecdotes and spot-on cultural references? She’s a unique voice with an even more unique story to tell.

Mystic Mania pulls you in immediately and is a fast read.
The author takes you on a journey through realms you’ve only dreamed of seeing into. The fact that it is a true account blows your mind on an AVATAR kind of level! She describes her other worldly experiences so well that you feel like you are right there with her having a laugh. Oh yeah, did I mention? She’s a hoot and a-half! Its a mind-blowing true account that is ever so cleverly written with great comedic timing. Everyone should read it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Talented Mix of Mysticism and Comedy, January 6, 2010

Page-flipper, engaging, and a refreshing description of details related to a singularly unique mystical experience. Interpretations of its true meaning are balanced with rationed thinking and speculative (yet insightful) interpretation. Refreshing for a serious subject matter such as bipolar disorder to be sprinkled with both subtle and overt humor. Culminated with an honest and touching effort to provide comfort and objective counsel to people with similar mental conditions and capabilities. While the chapter related to a river rafting experience was longer than desired…overall an excellent initial effort for a promising new author.

I laughed through the whole book – eagerly anticipating the end so I could get an answer to the mysterious Lover Boy.

When the surprising ending came, it left me wanting more in an exquisite way.

Don’t miss this book!!!
